Teachers

We are happy to welcome such great teachers to swingomania, some of them were here before, some brand new in Nuremberg!

GAS & ALBA

Gas’ & Alba’s style and their way of teaching is alive. They keep growing and maturing, their way of dancing seeks to express themselves, without forgetting the couple connection. They look for two individuals that shape one communication, a constant diaglogue in the dance, with clear roles, but without a hierarchy. Their hearts are in the 1930s, their heads in the present. Their source of inspiration are the 30s clips, the ballroom dances of the 2000s and the music of all times and shapes.

Gas’ & Alba’s pedagogy looks for the most natural way to dance this music, highlighting the importance of the music and the culture behind it. They prefer rather little technique than too much, and above all a lot of music played, searching for the essence of the movement in the rhythm, in all the dances that they teach (Lindy, Blues, Balboa, solo jazz, charleston..etc)

They adapt to the diferent context and settings of the classes, to the different students searches and objectives trying thoroughly to attend to the different ways of learning.

Alba met these dances in 2007,  and started to teach them for fun. She has been fully dedicated professionally to them since 2013. She brought her analytic foundation from her old career (pharmacy, medical information) and found in teaching a new way to apply her love for communication and teaching. Seven years ago she opened a school alongside Gastón Fernández, in her hometown, Madrid. Her true passion is teaching and dance socially, letting go and allowing the communication magic to spark. If she can teach both things, connecting the student with his/her self expression and how to express it through the jazz language, she knows she has succeeded. Everything framed by jazz culture, that she learned to love and study with devotion from her dance partner Gastón Fernández. One day they were walking through Harlem and he said to her “After this walk, your dance will never be the same”. And it was true.

Gas is a passionate dancer, a Swing and Blues lover. He discovered Lindy Hop in 2001 in Buenos Aires (Argentina). Since then his compromise with the dance and the music has been increasing. Leading him to leave his continent to keep learning and improving as a dancer.
He has been teaching classes since 2008 in Buenos Aires, and internationally since 2009. He has traveled from Rio de Janerio (Brasil), to Melbourne (Australia), passing through New York, London, Stockholm, Berlin, etc.
His background as a gymnast gives his style power, dynamism and explosive aerials. His tango technique background provided his blues and “slow dance” with a profound conexion and sensitivity.
Gas’ heart is thirsty to keep improving, learning, developing and fulfilling himself as a swing artist. His compromise is to transmit his passion, knowledge and inspire all those who are interested in this incredible world of Swing and Blues dance.

Benedicte & Laurent

Bénédicte and Laurent started teaching lindy hop and blues together in Paris in 2017. Having recently become full-time dance teachers, they have spent the last years travelling to blues and swing festivals (over 50 in total) as competitors, teachers and, in particular, for the social aspect of the dance and the people they meet. By creating the Groov’it dance school, they decided to make regular lessons in Paris accessible to as many people as possible.

In her teaching, Bénédicte attaches great importance to the role of each part of the body in your dance. Laurent develops a mechanical approach to your movements, which he explains based on the principles of physics.

CÉDRIC & CAROLINE

Since they met in 2012, Cédric and Caroline have decided to combine their competences in order to develop both their qualities of dancers and teachers. They are very active leading the local blues and swing scene in Strasbourg (Lindy Spot), as well as they go beyond borders further to dance, teach and perform.
Together, they felt in love with blues since the beggining of their partenership. They have practised and danced a lot to understand how a movement can be easily initiated, from both side of the couple, and how to adapt it to the music.
You will be able to appreciate their dynamic classes, a delicate blend of Cédric’s humor, and Caroline’s poetry. Both of them are keen to impart their ideas through a very progressive pedagogy. One that approaches technique in a very precise and detailed manner, and also teaches movements combining basics, surprises, musicality and grace. Whereas Cédric reminds you of the big principles of musicality, Caroline invites you to explore sensations, emotions and personal expression.
