Jenny Sowden is an award winning, full-time, international dance instructor based in New York City where she is the founder and director of Brooklyn Swings. Jenny has been training in dance for over twenty-five years and teaching for over twenty, with a BA in Dance and Theater from San Diego State University. She has studied 34 different styles of movement including Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, West African, Capoeira, Aikido, Tango, Salsa, Lindy hop, Balboa, and Blues. Her background influences her teaching and general style through musicality, variety, expression and an understanding of body mechanics.

Jenny believes the dance floor is a ‘World of Yes,’ where by constantly accepting and being inspired by what happens, creates an amazing place to be. We then take classes in a ‘World of Intention’ to expand our ‘World of Yes.’

More on Dara Anderbard soon.

Renske Bongers & Edmilson bothelo

Renske’s love for dancing started when she was 3 years old. She might have tried almost everything there is, but her love for dancing stuck with Blues. Having danced solo styles her whole life, she is a firm believer of discovering who you are as a dancer. In her classes she loves to explore different topics together with you. Diving into body awareness, playfulness & improvising or how to become comfortable with expressing yourself.

Next to that she has been dancing partner dances for half of her life. With blues she found the most freedom in both expressing yourself to the music and being there together with your partner. Finding the balance between individuality and connection. Having this conversation together on the dancefloor between you and the music and you and your partner.
Her classes will be full of energy, sometimes geeking out on techniques, but
always with an eye for individual needs and personal development.

Born and raised on the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe, Edmilson Botelho has always been immersed in music, drawing inspiration from the vibrant rhythms of African traditional dances such as Usôa, Puíta, Funaná, Cadence,
Kizomba, Semba, Kuduro, and many other African styles, as well as POP
dance.

His dance journey began at the age of 17 when he moved to Porto, Portugal, and discovered his passion for Lindy Hop and Blues Dance. His dedication to the art of dance eventually led him to become one of the partners at Hop Dance Studio in Porto, where he shares his love for movement and rhythm with others As a passionate dancer and teacher, Edmilson embodies the spirit of dance, finding joy in every step and rhythm. With his captivating energy and charismatic personality, he creates an atmosphere of fun and humility wherever he goes, inspiring others to feel the rhythm and express themselves through movement.

Lisa Clarke & Fabien Vrillon

Fabien and Lisa met in Herrang, Sweden in 2010 and have been teaching and
dancing together ever since. Coming from different backgrounds they both bring their own particular expertise, talents, and enthusiasm to the partnership.

Fabien comes from Grenoble, France and has been teaching swing dancing since 2004, specializing in lindy hop and blues.
